Short description
APLED 2015 was hosted by the Environmental Luminescence Group of the School of Physical Sciences, the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing, and the Environment Institute, at the University of Adelaide, South Australia. The main conference was preceded by a workshop on the DosiVox dosimetry simulation software, which was run by Norbert Mercier and Loïc Martin (University of Bordeaux). The main scientific sessions took place between 23 and 25 November and included 33 oral presentations and 38 poster presentations. These sessions focused on ESR dating, luminescence dating fundamentals and innovations, dosimetry, applications in archaeology and palaeontology, applications in geology and thermochronology, and applications in palaeoenvironmental reconstructions. The conference dinner was held on 24th November at the Adelaide Oval Stadium. The conference was followed by a 3-day field trip (26-28 November) to the UNESCO World Heritage Naracoorte Caves fossil sites and the Kanawinka Geopark of southeast South Australia, and included a unique wine tasting experience within one of the caves of the Wrattonbully wine region. A total of 67 researchers attended the conference from Australia, Poland, Spain, France, UK, Japan, South Korea, China, Brazil and India.
